Picture Day

Picture day is coming up, and it seems significant since we will graduate soon too. I was excited when I saw all the smiles on their faces while preparing for the pictures. This was also the first time that I had seen all of them in one place at once.

It was interesting to notice that the teachers also had a role to play on the picture day. In fact, the majority of male teachers seemed not to care about checking their pictures, whereas most of the female teachers took time to check theirs. They were all dressed up and even wore make-up, which shows that they were conscious about how they looked. But what matters more was that they cared a lot about their students’ appearance. They took pictures of students as well.

The students had done much preparation for the picture day. They were all wearing their school uniform, did their makeup, and applied some gel in their hair in order to look presentable. The students then moved with their homeroom teacher towards the photo counter, where they sat and smiled their hearts out. In front of the students were three persons dressed up as monkeys, smiling and cheering ‘smile’.

Their role was difficult for several reasons. They were always telling students “Smile” repeatedly, which led to being sometimes a little bored with what they had to do. Photos were taken, and when students were not satisfied with the photos, new photos were required. The thing they like about their work is the fact that they do not attend lessons during school hours. Yet another thing they find tough is the fact that working with so many students may become tiring for their mind.

The assistants have been very helpful in their indirect role as well. They would make the students smile in such a way that the smile looks real to the camera. They ensured that everything was timed well, and that all required materials were provided for the shoot.
