New School Policy

There are many rules we have to follow in GIS. Many new students or former students forget or do not know old and new rules. Because there are new rules coming out anytime we have to know it as quickly as possible. Without knowing it we can get many punishments or suspended if it is serious. So, to prevent this situation from happening, we have to learn about new policies. Now that the new school year has started, we should learn about the new school policy which is “Yellow & Red Ticket Policy.”
The “Yellow & Red Ticket Policy” is basically about punishment and suspension. This policy is like baseball, when you foul you get a yellow card if you get 3 yellow cards you get a red card. Before you get a yellow ticket there are 7 steps to getting a yellow ticket. First, is the Observation Notes. It is a note that records a student’s behavior and the interventions attempted. Second, is Classroom Intervention. This is what the teacher has tried to help and make the student behave well, for example separating seats, warning system, and a promise to behave. Third, is Parent Communication. This is the step where the homeroom teacher or the principal tells the student’s parents about what is going on. Fourth, is the Student Conference. This time the homeroom teacher does a 1 to 1 meeting with the student. Fifth, is Collaboration, the student’s other grade teacher test if the background of learning is the fault of misbehaving. Sixth, is Timeframe Consideration, which is a step where teachers confirm that this misbehavior is repeating. Lastly, is Administrative Notification. In this last step the teachers inform the misbehaving student to the assistant principal before officially giving a yellow ticket. For our school if you get a yellow ticket, we have to go to the assistant principal’s room and talk about why we got a yellow ticket, and also your parents will know that you got a yellow ticket. In addition, until your homeroom teacher agrees you couldn’t have recess permanently. For secondary students if you get 2 yellow tickets, you have to attend Friday detention.
If you get 3 yellow tickets you get a red card, red card is only given when you have a serious incident and a student suffered damage from it, your first red card could be 1 day of suspension or worse a week or permanent suspension. The interesting fact is that after you get a red ticket, even if you get 1 yellow ticket you are right away suspended permanently and never come back.
