Fall Celebrations Around the World
Do you know about celebrations around the world about fall? Many countries celebrate fall each way. I think most countries enjoy fall, so there are many festivals in the world and some countries have holidays in fall. So, I will talk about festivals in the world.
First, China‘s festival is mid-autumn festival(中秋节). It is an important festival in China. It is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar.Originally, it was a holiday to give thanks for good presents and a time to the moon, which symbolizes unity and harmony to gather. Nowadays,the main way people celebrate is by gathering with their family.Then what do they do in the mid-autumn festival? The Mid-Autumn Festival is an evening celebration when families gather together to light lanterns, eat moon cakes and appreciate the round moon. The moon is the biggest and lightest of the year, in the mid-autumn festival. The full moon is a symbol for family reuinon.That’s meaning is similar to the meaning of the mid-autumn festival today. which is why that day is also known as the Festival of Reunion.
Second, South Korea’s festival is Chosoek, it is hoilday. It occurs on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunisolar calendar, on the full moon.It started with the event, Gabae. Originally, it was to celebrate and give thanks for the harvest in Silla, and people played games and had contests. Nowadays people visit parents and spend time together. Many people spend time with games or talking.Then, what do they eat during Choseok? A lot of people eat traditional food,for example, Songpyeon,Bulgogi,Japchae,etc. Also they share food with people who they know.
Third, Us’s Festival is Halloween. It is a very famous and considered an important event. In the U.S, they do many activities on Halloween, such as trick-or-treating,costumes,haunted houses and many things. The most famous one is trick-or-treating. It is for children.That adults prepare for Halloween with house decorating. They decorate their house with ghost skeletons,spider webs and more. And the children go to some houses which have decorations. And children say trick or treat! .Then abuts give some candy to them.
Lastly, Indian’s festival Diwali. That means lights overcomes darkness,and good triumph over evil.Originally,It commemorates Lord Rama’s return after 14 years of exile and his victory over the demon king Ravana during five days.And this event doesn’t care about religion. And people think that is the most important festival. Then, what do they do during Diwali? They decorate their house with lamps and lights. Also they draw Rangli signs on the floor.And they wear new clothes with their flair. People also gives sweets and gift to their family and friends. At night,they watch fireworks and enjoy delicious food together. It is very happy and colorful festival.
There are many festivals around the world to celebrate fall. Each country has its own way, but all of them are about sharing happiness with family and friends.
