Dubai Chewy Cookie

Korea’s most viral dessert is the Dubai Chewy Cookie, also called “Dujjoncoo.” This dessert has become so popular that Koreans now have an app just to find the location of DCC cafés. So what is the Dubai Chewy Cookie, and why is it going so viral? DCC is a mix of two past trending snacks: Dubai chocolate and chewy cookies. The original creator of DCC is unknown, but through social media, DCC has gotten insanely popular. Because of this, many DCC cafés and many different types of DCC have been created, such as DCC kimbab, giant DCC, DCC cakes, and many more.

However, the biggest issue about DCC is its price. Generally, one DCC costs from 6,000 won to 12,000 won, which is very expensive for a small dessert. The main reason why DCC is so expensive is because of the ingredients used to make it. Kadayif and pistachios have increased in price significantly due to low production and high demand. Another reason is the strong influence of the media. The media showcases DCC as a “must-try” dessert, so as DCC gets more popular, people buy it regardless of the price because it is going viral. With this store pricing, DCC has become more and more expensive.

How long would DCC last for? Are they going to disappear like Tanghulu or survive like Yoajung for a longer period of time? My guess is that DCC is going to last longer. That's because the popularity of DCC is different from the other trending desserts, also recently DCC exported out of Korea and it's now viral in Japan and China. The other reason is that with DCC we can make many different variations of desserts that last longer. Overall, the Dubai Chewy Cookie is more than just a viral dessert and has grown into a trend that continues to expand and evolve.
